Rachel Joy Consulting isn’t just a business. It’s a movement to help committed, mission-minded ministry leaders stay for the long-haul without burning out. I built it because I learned this the hard way, and I don't want you to have to learn it the same way I did.

Hey, I’m Rachel.

I've spent 18 years in ministry, my entire adult life, and the last several of those inside a rapidly growing nonprofit ministry I loved deeply. I said yes to that mission with everything I had, because saying yes felt like the only faithful response to something I believed in so completely.

I became the person everyone depended on. Not because anyone asked me to, but because I was capable, dependable, and willing, and it always seemed faster to just take care of it myself than to slow down and teach someone else.

One project. One responsibility. One "I'll just handle it." Little by little, I had quietly become the system. Much of what I carried lived only in my head, because I never stopped long enough to write it down or hand it off. A small but critical belief started to take root, “I carry so much, I must be indispensable.”

HOW I GOT HERE

Two years ago, the weight of that caught up with me. I hit a breaking point I never saw coming, and I had to step away from the work I loved for a season to heal.

That season taught me something I wish someone had told me years earlier: healthy leadership isn't measured by how much you can carry. It's measured by how well you equip others to carry the mission with you.

I want to be clear about something, because it matters to me: the problem was never a lack of good leadership around me. The organization I served was growing faster than any of us had systems for — and I filled every gap myself instead of building something that could hold the weight without me. I'm deeply grateful that, after two years of healing, I've been able to return to the ministry I love.

God never asked me to lay my life down for an organization. He asked me to lay it down for Him. Ministry shouldn't require martyrdom.

That's why I started Rachel Joy Consulting, to help leaders like me build the systems I didn’t have and unlearn the habits that drove me to burnout. Not because I love documentation or checklists for their own sake, but because every healthy system and habit protects a real person.

A documented process means someone doesn't have to guess. A clear onboarding plan helps a new team member feel confident instead of overwhelmed. A shared workflow means one person doesn't have to carry everything alone. And learning to let go of a task you've always done yourself means someone else finally gets the chance to grow into it.

A healthy organization doesn't become less caring because it has better systems. It becomes more caring, because it values the people carrying the mission just as much as the mission itself.

You are not the mission. You are one of the people the mission is meant to care for, too.

WHAT I BRING TO THE WORK

Alongside my own story, I bring a decade of marketing and operations experience to this work, which means I don't just understand the emotional weight of what you're carrying, I know how to actually build the systems, workflows, and leadership habits that relieve it.

This isn't theory for me. It's the work I had to do in my own life and career, and it's the work I now get to help you do in yours, so that building healthy systems never feels like stepping away from the mission you love. It's how that mission keeps going, faithfully, for years to come.

If you're carrying more than you were meant to, I'd love to help.
